ReadMe file for "Tibetan for Windows"

Tibetan For Windows is a free program for typing in Tibetan script, and converting ACIP and Wylie files.  

For general information, please refer to the file named Tib4Win2.html and the readme files in the tib4win directory (this directory will be created during the installation process).

While this program is free, and no money is needed or expected, donations are very much appreciated.  Donations or comments can be sent to:

Version 2 is currently under development (but see the last paragraph of this document).  The new version will support easier input of Sanskrit stacks.  For the latest information, check the website:

Please note that you must create 1 or 2 install diskettes in order to use the install instructions given below.  Simply copy the CONTENTS of each of the two folders (but not the folder itself) to two diskettes and label these accordingly.  Then follow the instructions for either Windows 3.x or Windows 95/98.  You may wish to print these instructions for easy reference.

Installation instructions for Windows 3.x

1. Insert the "Common Disk" that you created above.
2. Choose File Manager and click on INSTALL in A: drive
3. Minimize File Manager by clicking on down arrow in upper right
   of window
4. Click on INSTALL in ObjectVision screen
5. Click OK from there
6. Choose Run from Program Manager and type \VISIONR\SETUP
7. Click OK

Installation instructions for Windows 95/98

1. Insert the "Windows 95 Disk" that you created above.
2. Click Start button on task bar
3. Type A:\SETUP and click OK
4. Replace "Windows 95 Disk" with the "Common Disk" when prompted


The new ACIP batch converter for Version 2 is also included here in the folder named "ACIP2Rob".  Please note that it runs in Windows 95 or later but not in Windows 3.x.  To use it, copy the entire folder to your hard disk and run the program named acip2rob.exe.
